Red Cross Standard First Aid                   (Back to Courses)

This course provides the student with the essential skills of patient care necessary to protect and support the life of a suddenly ill or injured person until EMS arrive. In addition to what is covered in the Emergency First Aid program, this course offers more training on fractures and medical emergencies such as epilepsy and diabetes.

Course Topics Include:

  • The Red Cross (history)
  • Preventing Infections
  • EMS/911 (Emergency Medical Services/System)
  • Check-Call-Care (ABC's)
  • Level A, B, C, HCP (Health Care Provider)
  • Shock
  • Secondary Survey
  • Breathing and Circulation Emergencies
  • Medication Administration
  • Stroke
  • Bleeding
  • Head/ Spine Injuries, Bone/Muscle/Joint Injuries,Wounds/Burns
  • Sudden Medical Emergencies (Diabetes, Seizures, Childbirth & Miscarriages)
  • Environmental Emergencies (Frostbite/Hypothermia & Heat-related Emergencies)
  • Poisons, Allergic Reactions, Substance Abuse and Misuse
  • CPR Masks & First Aid Kits

SFA with Level “A” CPR
(Adult, Choking, CPR, & AED)

SFA with Level “C” CPR
(Adult, Child, Baby, Two - Rescuer CPR, Choking, CPR, & AED)
Expiry: 3 years

CPR - HCP (Health Care Provider)
(Level “C” CPR plus Rescue Breathing, Jaw Thrust, Pulse Checks & Bag Valve Masks)
